7 Reasons Why You Need to Offer a Group Coaching Program

Do you have a group coaching program? As a coach or consultant, one of the best ways to leverage your ability to scale to a 6 or even 7-figure business is to offer a group coaching program. If you’ve launched one before and it wasn’t successful or if you are thinking of launching one but you aren’t sure it will work for you, know that it will allow you to scale and deliver more impact to more people in less time.

Understanding the seven reasons, described below, about why your coaching or consulting business needs to include a group coaching program will help you be successful in launching a program that will ultimately provide the results your clients need.

Here are the 7 reasons your coaching or consulting business needs a group coaching program:

#1 It Takes Less Time to Deliver

A group coaching program takes less time to deliver results to many clients thus increasing business revenue.>

The first reason to offer a group coaching or consulting group is that it takes less time to deliver. Instead of having a dozen private coaching calls in a week, you can have one group coaching call with the same amount of people or more. Oftentimes when coaches and consultants come to me stagnant in their ability to increase their revenue, it’s because they are the bottleneck.

Time is their biggest issue and they come to me stuck and exhausted. They are burning the candle at both ends because they are stuck at the center of the business doing everything including serving tons of individual clients. With a group program, a business owner can reclaim their time because they are then able to serve many clients at once.

#2 It is scalable

The second reason to have a group coaching or consulting program is that it is scalable. Having only one-to-one clients is not. If you find that you are so busy that you cannot add 20 clients to your business in the next few months, then you have a scalability problem. If you want to scale your business to 6 or even 7-figures, you need to create a group program where you can serve many different people at the same time. This will allow you to add more clients and grow your bottom line while still managing your business.

Once it is set up correctly, a group program will allow you to work less hours and make more money as you are able to deliver your strategy and coaching in a one-to-many environment. I have helped many coaches and consultants create a scalable group coaching program. #3 Shared Learning Experience

A coach teaching a live class to her group coaching clients knowing they will all learn from this experience.>

The third reason why a coach or consultant needs a group program is because it is very beneficial for their clients. One benefit is the shared learning experience that can only come through a group program. Many coaches and consultants are worried that their clients’ will not get the benefit or the results they are looking for if they don’t work with them one-to-one and that is not true. It is difficult to personalize coaching if you are in a mass-market program with hundreds of other people. I’m not a fan of these models personally, but intimate group experiences are very powerful.

I always teach during my group coaching calls even though I also have an on-demand learning center. There is something really powerful about learning in a live setting. In fact, your brain will absorb and retain information differently when it’s taught live versus watching a static video.

One of the biggest benefits of being in a group program is that the teaching then stimulates a discussion among participants.

Sometimes a person in one of my groups will ask a question and it will create an entire breakthrough moment for another participant. This is why a shared learning experience is very valuable to your clients. If you want to create a powerful learning experience, then you need a group program for your coaching or consulting clients.

#4 It Creates Community

The power of learning about the importance of connecting with others to be successful in business.>

Another powerful reason to offer a group coaching or consulting program is to create a community for your clients. Entrepreneurship can be very isolating. As an entrepreneur, you are usually at your desk alone which is not a glamorous experience. Oftentimes you may not have anyone you know, including family, who is an entrepreneur. If you are only working with clients one-to-one, you and your clients are missing out on the community experience.

When you have a group program, you not only get to teach, but you get to add in the community experience.

For example, I love running in person retreats. These are intimate settings with high performers and they get to come together and create powerful relationships that last a lifetime. Whether you have an in-person model or an online community, there is something so powerful about having a community your clients can lean into.

#5 It Creates Greater Accountability

The fifth reason why offering a group coaching model will help you scale your business is that it creates greater accountability for your clients. If you are in a community and you are having a shared experience with your peers who you see taking action and hitting their goals, what do you think it will do for your motivation? I have seen it over and over again, that when there is group accountability, it motivates individuals to take greater action toward their goals when they see others doing it.

Oftentimes, when people are trying to do it on their own, they will easily fall back into old habits. However, when they see their peers crushing their goals, it lights a fire under them to get things done as well.

#6 More Accessible Investment

Another great reason to offer a group coaching or consulting program is that you can offer it at a lower cost making it more accessible to people interested in working with you. I teach ultra-high-ticket which means that I teach my clients how to sell their group coaching programs for multiple five figures. These coaches and consultants have very high-end private coaching packages. In fact, I’ve helped my coaching clients successfully structure and sell 6-figure private coaching programs. These ultra high ticket private coaching packages may not be an investment that is accessible to everyone.

The group coaching program option then becomes the step-down in your value ladder and another way for clients to still work with you and get the support they need, but in a group setting. This group setting allows you to deliver that support to many people at once and in exchange for that shared environment, you are able to lower the cost for participants.

#7 It Makes You a Better Coach

A business coach improving his skills by leading group coaching programs and helping many people at once solve their challenges.>

The final reason why you need a group coaching program and one of the most underrated aspects of having one is that it actually makes you a better coach. When you are managing a group, there are multiple challenges such as dealing with different personalities, different problems each person is having, different mindsets among participants, and different life situations that are all happening at once. It is up to you the coach to help them solve their problems in this intimate group setting.

It is a very different experience helping a client solve their problem during a private coaching call versus helping someone solve their problem when you are serving many people at once on a group call. I’ve had clients give me feedback that they learned so much from watching how I managed different personalities and quickly solved challenges in intimate group settings. Offering a group program is going to stretch you and help you become a better coach.

Now that you understand all the reasons why you need to add a group coaching program to scale your business, you will want to get started. Which of the reasons listed above have you never thought of before? I would love to hear from you.
