What is a 7-figure business and how to achieve it
Building a 7-figure business means that your annual revenue is somewhere between $1,000,000 and $9,999,999. It is a fantastic amount for anyone starting their business from zero. However, it is possible to have a 7-figure business if you know how to unleash your potential.
The foremost thing to consider is to know your strengths. You quit from your last company bringing tons of experience and extremely valuable skills. So, list down everything. Your potentials include, but are not limited to:
- Knowledge and expertise in your own respective fields
- Business networking—people and organizations—acknowledging your professionalism
- Business insights, problem solving skills, and other skill sets
- Understanding of business culture and people
- Ability to develop leaders and organize teams within an organization
- Real world business experiences
- Strategic thinking and planning to improve efficiencies
- Best practices in systems and operations in an organization
- Etc., feel free to prolong this list by adding all of your professional traits
After you know exactly what you have as a coach and consultant, you have to go beyond ordinary. You have to understand the irony that 82% of coaching businesses fail within the first two years. It is because they are following the same pattern: promoting courses, billing the clients by hours, or selling small packages. None of those ways can help you make a large injection of cash. You will not be able to easily create a 7-figure consulting and coaching business doing similar things.
Understand the important fact that companies are willing to pay a large sum of money to hire an outside business coach and consultant—YOU—and help their organizations and their people make strategic decisions, operate efficiently, improve productivity and engagement, roll out new initiatives, etc. The latest data shows that U.S companies spent $58.7 billion last year only on consulting. It is your opportunity to reap some benefit from this trend.
With the right strategy, you can win your target market in your selected coaching and consulting industry. The fastest path to grow a 7-figure coaching and consulting business is to position yourself to sell ultra-high-end services. It means that you have to craft your effective coaching ‘curriculum’ into a powerful and concrete step-by-step business solution and then offer it in at least a six-figure price tag. Always keep in mind that your future clients are companies with big budgets.
“As long as you can offer something that can bring values to their companies and help them solve their problems effectively and efficiently, be confident in selling your ultra-high ticket programs.”
Ultra-high ticket approach for 7-Figure
To begin with, I want to share a success story from my client, Chuck, who was a Chief Compliance Officer in a hospital. He set up a consulting business and came to me for an intensive consultation on how to be financially successful from his consulting business. I showed him how to take his genius and codify a next-level solution that he felt confident attaching a six-figure price tag to. The result was he sold two 6-figure contracts, generating $300,000 within just a few months of working with me.
It was a breakthrough for him. All I provided was a solid foundation for him to start selling ultra-high ticket offers. Then, I also equipped him with the confidence to hand in his notice, walk away from his corporate job and prepare the cash flow to hire key team members to grow his business. So, are you ready to become the next Chuck? Let’s start by understanding the essence of the ultra-high ticket approach.
First, do not mistake an ultra-high ticket approach with the ascension model. Ultra high-ticket offer does not start with selling an inexpensive program and then gradually upsell it—let’s say from $27 or $200 to $5,000, and eventually to $25,000. This kind of model does not translate well for our expected company revenue.
In my approach, what makes you a 7-figure business coach is your ability to go straight for the top-selling ultra-high end services. This approach is highly effective as you can quickly replace your income by getting injections of large amounts of cash flow. Therefore, you can assure that your business gets the amount needed to grow and move forward. Moreover, corporations are used to paying outside consultants—with the right expertise to help them—a high budget to hire support, ranging from tens to hundreds of thousands per contract.
For corporations, it is much more effective and efficient to hire an outside coach or consultant than to hire them as employees. They do not have to pay taxes and benefits to bring someone on board, but they can get an expert that will bring specialized knowledge to answer the corporations’ needs in a more effective and efficient way. Now, you have had a clear illustration to sell your services for multiple five to six figures. The next thing to consider is how to do it right.
The 5 key systems to build 7-Figure
I invented the five key systems to help coaches and consultants successfully step into selling ultra-high-end services and scaling those services to a high 6 or even 7-figure business. For this reason, you are in the right place to learn about it with me.
First: Offer
Because you already have a core genius, a unique skill set, and real world knowledge and experience, you can use them all to give powerful solutions the companies will pay up to high figures. Therefore, the first step is to know what you can offer to answer their needs
However, understanding your expertise is not enough. Before you can offer your services, you also have to understand the companies’ struggles and pains in their efforts to achieve their goals and meet their visions. It is an important phase because by having that information, you can build a systematic solution to solve them. I call this process ‘codifying your method.’
Having your method codified systematically, you can see your clients’ results beforehand. Knowing the results, you can design a powerful solution bundled in an irresistible offer that is intrinsically valuable so that even if you attach a six-figure price tag, the ROI is so high that the price is reasonable. That is the real art and science of creating an ultra-high offer.
Second: Marketing
This is basically a system you build to influence others: to create widespread awareness, excitements, and demand for your services. Of course, it is hard for any new coach and consultant to get noticed by the market in the first place. That is why many of them stay stagnant for years because of their inability to promote themselves.
Don’t worry. I have created a concept called the Ladder of Influence where I break down the four levels of influence, the challenges at each stage and how to successfully ascend up, grow your influence and authority so you can make 7 figures. In marketing, having people who listen to you, trust you, and ultimately buy from you is highly crucial. It is more than placing you as an expert coach or consultant who delivers transformational experience for your clients. It is also to position your methods and systematic solutions as the most wanted services needed by the clients that make you get notified.
You may not have massive followers, but you can have a relatively intimate audience who look up to you and trust you to build your 7-figure coaching business. Be a micro-influencer who gives your audience big and positive impacts.
The last thing in marketing is to always create the right message with a high amount of relevancy to connect with the right market—your audience. You have to communicate your values effectively to your audience—to go deep into their needs, to feel their struggle, to connect with their goals and purposes, and to listen to their voices. This way, you create a two-way communication with your audience that makes the chance of them booking calls and referring your services to others high. In short, effective communication and the right positioning will generate leads.
Three: Sales
Sales are your money system. However, many coaches in the consulting business struggle with their sales conversion. They have the capacities needed to be consultants, but many of them do not master the ability to step up, measure their worth, and articulate their values clearly. Talking about high-end sales is simply a transference of certainty and confidence—your potential clients have to be confident that you are the right person to solve their company’s problems.
“Once they trust you, they are willing to give you multiple 5 or 6 figures.”
You must also be aware that communicating your service one-on-one with an individual client—let’s say a company’s CEO—is so much different from pitching your service in front of a formal board meeting. Since both can result in lucrative business deals, you need to make sure you can master sales conversation well, including demonstrating your authority, articulating your solution, and presenting a powerful set of deliverables to convince your prospective clients.
Four: System and Team
To build a 7-figure coaching business, you must pay attention to the system and the people in your team. A good system is essential to free up your time, automate your workflow, and delegate tasks easily. In the good system, you also have to place the right team to support you. Since 80-85% of sales happen before a conversation occurs, you need to have an awesome marketing team and an excellent system to support your awareness campaign. This is not only the most complex aspect in my training with my clients, but also the most time-consuming.
“When both your system and team are in place, it creates freedom for the business owner as you can remove yourself from the daily operations and focus on your roles to serve your clients.”
Five: Delivery
Although having more acquisition of new clients is wonderful, focusing intently on the delivery side of the business is also crucial to grow sustainably, especially in the ultra-high ticket business. If your clients are handing you high-five or even six figures for your time then there are big expectations attached to working with you so you need to do everything in your power to make sure they get their results. For your clients, creating a powerful delivery experience is as important as getting the results promised. Upon completion, you will get outstanding testimonials.
Clients can always feel how serious you are with them. They will know whether you pay attention to the detail or how organized you are in delivering your coaching program. In the end, you have to display high-level coaching services to high-paying clients.
“When clients get awesome experiences working with you, your revenue will follow.”
Now, have you been assured that leaving your job to create a 7-figure coaching and consulting business can be one of the most rewarding decisions you have in life? First, you can create massive impacts and change people’s lives by using your expertise and experiences. Second, you do it on your own terms. Third, you have the freedom to manage your time and energy. Finally, you make the money you desire. In short, you create your life by design.

* My website is still in production (although live) so images are not of me.
I have listened to your podcast with Dr. Katrina Burrus (twice) and just listened to your video on this page and one thing resonated with me – translation of your core genius to the client. I’ve spent a good portion of my career in professional services and recognize the gap between fee earners, and their team’s development. My observations are because the HR parts of the organization are non-traditional and has a flat, organizational structure. Many brokers/managing directors lack the leadership qualities (and time) to properly build their teams from sourcing the right candidates to developing their talents, and building successful and profitable teams in a reasonable time frame. What stuck with me as I listen to you, is that I need to focus on my core genius (people & culture, operational efficiencies) vs. acting as a generalist and I fear I need to focus my core genius even further. I have had a successful corporate executive career, a very good/honest reputation, and a robust network. However, even as a consultant, I was never really great at selling myself. I leaned more on results and prior experiences to show my value to the client. I could use some support and guidance on how to message my corporate experience into a pitch deck that is the right message and highly relevant to my future coaching clients. Can you help?
