Ever wonder how to make 7 figures in less than a year as a coach or consultant? How to sell high-ticket offers to high-end clients? All while working less and delivering incredible results. As a coach, you may think it’s impossible. Yet, there are many incredible stories out there of coaches and consultants making millions in little time, doing just that. 

Rarely though do you get an inside look at how exactly they pulled it off. 

In this article, I’m excited to break down the exact process we used to help my client Michele. Michele, a business coach in the interior design industry, eagerly wanted to uplevel her business. With our help, she 4x-ed her income going from low six figures to a 7 figure coaching business in less than a year. All through high-ticket offers.

When Michele first hired me, she had already established herself as an industry expert in the interior design space. Yet she hit a plateau in her coaching business. She was making a few hundred thousand dollars a year, bouncing between $200K to $300K annually, but at a cost.

She was doing EVERYTHING. Writing the copy, launching the courses, recording the podcasts, organizing the webinars, drafting the blogs. You name it she was doing it. All while running multiple coaching programs.

This is a VERY common trap coaches fall into. They’re often sold on the myth of the “Ascension Model” which assumes the best way to acquire clients is to offer low-ticket offers and cheap courses and then gradually up-sell them into high-ticket coaching offers as time progresses. It’s a model that works great in theory but riddled with issues. 

The first being it’s a pain to BUILD and manage. At its core, the Ascension Model requires generating a TON of traffic to your online landing pages. Building traffic to that level can take years to build organically, not to mention hours and hours of refinement. 

If you don’t have traffic, but don’t want to wait, you’ll have to pay for it. This means investing thousands in paid advertising with no guarantee you’ll actually realize an ROI on your ad spend. 

Second, the ROI of time invested in Ascension Models rarely justifies using it. Especially when you compare it to starting off by selling $50K+ packages. Just think of the sheer volume of courses you would have to sell to hit that same number! 

On top of that, the ascension model fails to acknowledge that different price points attract different customers. People who buy a $97 course rarely buy a $50K program because they simply have different needs, goals, and budgets. In many ways, they’re an entirely different market altogether. 

An additional issue people too often overlook about ascending their clients this way is the added layers of complexity. Which aren’t even necessary. Multiple offers require multiple funnels, copy, testing, optimizations, management, etc. (Who wants to do more of that?!) And if you want to see an ROI from it in less than a year, you have to spend massive amounts of time, effort, energy, and resources dedicated to the up-sell. 

Lastly, people that buy your course rarely use them or get results. Data has shown that courses have an 85% attrition rate, which means on average your course will end up collecting dust on someone’s computer. In turn, you lose your ability to make an impact and motivate people to even use you in the future. 

You can see how for most entrepreneurs, this is highly undesirable. 

The Road to High-Ticket Coaching and Consulting Offers: Simplify

From Complexity to System Simplicity

Michele did and knew the old way wasn’t aligned anymore. She knew an easier way existed. A better and faster way to scale up the business that didn’t require her to do any of the other stuff.

How did we solve this problem?

We flipped her model on its head and went for the top (high-ticket offers) and stayed there! We streamlined her offers from 7 to just 2 multiple five-figure ones (including a $50K one).

We next focused on codifying her genius.

Codifying your genius means taking all the ideas, teachings, knowledge, and experience YOU have acquired over the years and putting it all together into a next-level system that gets your clients BIG results.

You can think of your core genius as the ONE problem you solve better than anyone else. The one thing you want to scale a 7 figure coaching business around. Most entrepreneurs have ‘split focus syndrome’ where they have many different offers and teachings.
