How To Generate More Leads for Your Coaching Business

Posted in: Business Growth , High-Ticket , Linkedin , Mindset , Success Story

Love coaching your clients but find yourself caught on the “get new clients hamster wheel?” You are not alone. Many coaches have initial success but constantly come up short when it comes to getting more leads for their coaching business. In fact, this is the number one thing clients say they need when they come to us.

In our Expert Accelerator Program, we teach the five fundamentals for growing a highly profitable coaching business. You can learn more about that here.

Today let’s talk about leads and how you can get more coaching clients.

#1 Provide Value On Your Platforms

One of the most overlooked strategies is actually providing value. Remember that the more educated a prospect is, the more likely they are to easily become a high paying coaching client.

Many coaches make the mistake of being way too salesy. Every post on social media turns into a big pitch fest. The problem with constantly pitching your services is that people tend to tune out. They stop reading and keep scrolling.

Remember that people love to buy but they hate to be sold too. When you are constantly selling, you start to sound just like everyone else too. So what can you do instead? Selling is awesome but also provide VALUE. There are many ways to provide value to your potential coaching clients.

If you are great on video, try recording content where you teach a framework.

Video helps create an instant know-like-trust factor with your clients. They can hear your voice, see your facial expressions, read your body language and get a real sense of who you are and what your teaching and coaching style is.

I’m a big fan of both pre-recorded video content and of live streaming. The advantage of live streaming is that you get instant eyeballs on you and your content. You also have the chance to engage live with the viewers and followup to those that are interested in your coaching services.

You can also use written content to get more leads for your coaching business.

Blogging is an excellent way to reach more of your ideal clients who are struggling with an issue and looking for a solution to their problems. They turn to Google, type a question into the search bar and land on your blog.

LinkedIn is also an excellent platform for publishing articles and getting leads for your coaching business. They not only help build your credibility on the number one business platform in the world but they also are indexed by Google. This means someone searching for answers can stumble upon your LinkedIn article.

Other written content that can drive leads for your coaching business is short form or long form posts. LinkedIn limits the number of characters on an individuals post to 1300 characters. This makes you keep your content short and sweet on the platform. Want to go deeper? You will need to publish a LinkedIn article.

Facebook on the other hand does not limit the number of characters you can post. Long form content posts on Facebook are like a blog article and popular for driving leads for your coaching business.

Webinars are another excellent way to get more coaching clients.

Much like video content, these can be pre-recorded or live. Webinars can be enhanced with PowerPoint slides or a whiteboard.

I could write dozens of articles on how to run a successful webinar but keep this in mind, lead with value. There is nothing worse than sitting through a webinar where nothing is being taught and it ends up being one big pitch fest.

Your webinar should teach and show clients results who used your products and services. Keep in mind longer webinars are typically used to sell low ticket products (think courses, memberships, etc.) but high ticket coaching webinars (think $3K price point and above) are best kept shorter.

The goal of getting more high paying coaching clients is first to have a qualified lead book a discovery call. Also keep in mind that the more successful someone is, the less time they have to watch your webinar. Be clear and concise and you will get more leads for your coaching business.

#2 Share Your Message on Other People’s Platforms

Did you know that there are far better platforms to share your message than just your own? One of the best ways to grow your credibility is to start to leverage the power of what I call Other People’s Traffic or “O.P.T.” for short.

If you want to get more leads for your coaching business, focus on giving value on one of the many sites where your ideal clients are consuming content. There are online magazines, established blogs, podcasts and many more.

You can easily get published on many online sites by simply taking the time to write meaningful content. You can also share your message on one of the many podcast shows that are being published daily.

Podcasts hosts are constantly on the look out for guests to provide value to their own audience.

Remember not to make the interview a big pitch of your services. Again lead with value and offer a way for them to continue the conversation with you. You can promote a webinar or other opt-in to bring them onto your email list and have them follow you on social media.

Getting on relevant podcasts can have a huge ROI. In 2019 alone, I was able to make multiple six figures in sales in my coaching business from using the power of OPT and sharing my message on podcasts. Having the right messaging and positioning is essential for getting these kind of results. You can learn more about that here.

#3 Utilize the Power of Paid Traffic and Advertising

Paid traffic is a next level strategy that really should only be used after you have a proven offer. How do you know it’s proven? Simple, you are selling it.

We recommend this because paid advertising is not cheap. In fact, paid traffic is an entirely different strategy in and of itself. Each platform for paid traffic be that Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, etc. all have a different method for how they capture attention.

Many coaches make the mistake of jumping the gun too soon and end up handing over thousands of dollars to the Social Media Network Gods with little to no return.

Here’s the thing, paid traffic has tremendous potential but it requires you have the extra funds necessary to test (and sometimes lose) as you figure it out. The other two strategies I shared are free.

They don’t cost you money but rather require that you put in the time and earn their attention.

We use paid traffic to help our clients scale but only when they are ready.

The reality is you can make half a million plus in your coaching business without paid traffic (we teach this!). And before investing in paid traffic, there are many fundamental pieces we build out to make sure when you do spend money on ads, you actually get leads for your coaching business.

Once you have a paid traffic strategy dialed in, the sky is the limit. You can get more high paying coaching clients when you spend more money. At this point it becomes a numbers game. You put X dollars in and you get Y in revenue.

Ultimately as you continue to scale your business, you will use all three of these strategies to get leads for your coaching business. As you grow, you will want to have multiple strategies running at once.
