If you’re an Entrepreneur stuck at the six-figure mark, you’re not alone. Many entrepreneurs feel frustrated when they don’t see more progress in their journey. I often hear from coaches and consultants who want to double or triple their revenue but feel stuck where they are. This can be especially true for new coaches who are still building their business and are stuck between $250K-$350K.

When my coaching and consulting clients come to me, they’re usually stuck at a point where they’re making decent money but can’t seem to make more. Some of my clients are making around $600,000 to $750,000 per year, but they feel like they can’t do anything more to increase their earnings. If you’re in a similar situation, there are a few things you can do to break through and start earning seven figures.

The Dark Side of Underpricing Your Coaching and Consulting Offers

What are the common reasons some entrepreneurs get stuck at six figures? It might have something to do with pricing their services too low. A lot of coaches and consultants simply aren’t aware of their value and on how to charge what their services are really worth. By the way, this is true for my clients who come to me never having sold anything at a high price point.

When people come to me and are ready to learn the strategy to 2x to 4x or more their revenue, they might be billing by the hour or selling smaller packages. They have never stepped into selling 5 or 6 figure packages. Instead, they’re trapped in a volume based business and stuck on this hamster wheel of constantly trying to get leads and close more clients.

If this is you, you need to change your model because you will cap your income. There are only so many hours in a day and if you actually break down simple math and look at the sheer number of clients you would need based on how much your pricing your services you would see how exhausting this model is.

Let’s break down a $5,000 coaching package. In order to generate $500,000 from coaching or consulting services, 100 packages would need to be sold in a year. The numbers don’t lie; if you want to scale up your coaching or consulting business to make half a million dollars, you’re looking to close around eight new clients each month. In order to close 8 new clients, you would need to have a ton of sales calls. The average close rate in the industry is one in five calls. Now you might be experienced in closing sales and may have much higher rates like myself but that is still a lot of calls.

If you’re struggling to get leads and close more clients now, how are you going to get that volume of leads to fill your pipeline? It takes a lot of your energy to continually get leads and based on the sheer volume you need, it’s a losing game. What’s important to understand is that if you raise your prices you’re going to need less clients and you’re going to have a more simple focused business model for scaling up a coaching and consulting business.

But let’s say you’re like many of my clients who come to me and they’re already selling high-ticket programs but they are still stuck at six figures. I’ve had clients already selling a $25,000 package and when I get to know them and their business we easily double their prices.

I had another client who came to me already selling a 100K package and I said, “for what you’re doing you could easily double your price.” The point is whether you’re selling a low-ticket offer or you’re already selling high-ticket offers, there is always room for improvement when it comes to your pricing strategy. And when you raise your prices, you make more money and you’ll hit your numbers faster.

Your Coaching and Consulting Lead Generation Strategy Falling Flat

Entrepreneurs who stay stuck in the six figure range don’t have enough leads. Virtually every coach or consultant who comes to me saying they are interested in scaling up a coaching or consulting business say they need more leads. However, not enough leads is just a symptom of a bigger problem. You most likely have fundamental holes in your strategy that must be addressed.

For example, you may have a great service but you are not going after your perfect client. This could mean you need to change your target market such as shifting to clients who have greater levels of income, change industries, or your niche.

I had a client who was struggling to sell to newer business owners. We shifted him to selling to 7 to 8 figure companies and his business exploded. There is opportunity everywhere but it’s essential you are going after the right people.

If you’re struggling to close sales, you are not positioning yourself as an expert. People are often hesitant to buy from someone they see as equally experienced as them. You need to be seen as an expert authority in your niche to be successful. This means changing people’s perception of you and your wealth of knowledge so that you’re viewed as a mentor or even guru.

There might also be an issue with your messaging. If your messaging is all over the place, not targeted, or worse inaccurate, you will find yourself attracting the wrong people into your sales conversations, or closing deals with unfit clients that will burn you out.

It’s important to be mindful of your messaging to avoid any undesirable outcomes in the short term and in the long run.

If you want to scale your business to seven figures, you really need to fix any fundamental problems to get a steady flow of leads.

The Importance of Systems & Team in Scaling a Business

Another main reason why entrepreneurs get stuck in the six-figure range is because they lack a system for scaling up their coaching and consulting business. Too many entrepreneurs who are stuck in the low six-figures are focused on trying to get more leads and close more clients, instead of developing a system that will support growth. They may have some systems in place, but nothing that would be sufficient to enable them to reach the seven-figure mark or can sustain them once they reach seven-figures.

As your company expands, you will need to put into place more complex systems. This will entail marketing systems to generate awareness and demand for your products. In addition to that, you need to also create robust sales systems. You will have to focus on how you can optimize the flow of leads through your pipeline to close them or follow up with them.

Operational systems need to be in place, which are how you can streamline the operations of your business and manage projects within every department. Optimize this correctly so you won’t get overwhelmed with the wave of qualified leads coming in so you are able to fulfill your offers.

Which brings me to the next system you have to implement, client delivery systems. This plays a critical role in your organization’s growth. They help to streamline onboarding, scheduling, and client management processes, among other things. Having an efficient and effective client delivery system in place can help you to better serve your clients and grow your business.

As your company expands, you can adapt your operations to accommodate continued growth. However, many people delay setting up the correct systems and miss out on opportunities. Systems can help you avoid obstacles and support continued success as you scale your now sustainable business.

Build the right team of experts to help you with your journey.

You cannot be an expert in all areas. None of us can and you will not have time to do everything yourself. You may need to seek extra support to construct the systems you need to assist with the various activities required to expand your business.

Many clients came to me feeling stuck in the center of their business. I helped them release their direct involvement in areas that could be delegated. They were attempting to accomplish too much on their own and this hampered their growth. Without delegating tasks or taking on additional help, they eventually became overwhelmed and burnt out.

Avoid any activities that are keeping you stuck.

Many coaches and consultants lack the necessary scaling infrastructure to support business growth. They may have some systems in place, but this is usually insufficient to meet the needs of a seven-figure business. When you work with me, I help you build the systems and teams you need to step into the role of true CEO. This includes setting and achieving a vision, and providing quality service to your clients. Having these things in place is essential for growing a successful 7 figure coaching or consulting business.

Let me know in the comments, which of these three aspects you are struggling with and apply to book a call with me so we can discuss how you can go from a 6 figure income and land your first 7 figure deal.
